Description

Silverbridge Cottage is a 17th-century cottage, originally a farmhouse, largely restored in later centuries. It has walls of coursed lias rubble, covered by a thatched roof with gable ends. There are two 20th-century brick chimney stacks, one at the ridge to the left of centre and another at the right gable end. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high, with five windows: these are wooden casements with two or three lights and glazing bars, all with wooden sills and lintels. Half-dormers are present. The front door, located to the right of centre, is plank and of 20th-century construction, protected by a flat stone canopy held up by moulded brackets. A rear wing extends at a right angle from the middle of the main range. This wing is constructed of rubble flint walls with brick quoins and has a half-hipped thatched roof to the north. A sash window is located in the gable end of the rear wing.
