Description

Hell Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to around 1700. It is constructed of coursed lias stone and chert rubble walls, with a thatched roof featuring gabled and hipped ends. A renewed brick stack is present at the former left-hand gable, and another at the former right-hand rear gable. Originally a very short cross-wing, the farmhouse now has two storeys and four windows, each with two-light wooden casements containing glazing bars, wooden cills, and lintels. The front door, positioned towards the left-hand end, is wooden with small top lights and dates to the 20th century, enclosed within a stone porch with a pitched gable roof covered in concrete tiles. A rear wing has stone walls under a slate roof, with a 20th-century brick stack present at the west gable wall. Internally, there are two large open fireplaces with straight-chamfered wooden lintels above.
