Description
Holeacre Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the late 17th century. It features dressed stone walls and a slate roof with stone gable coping. There are brick stacks at both the left and right gables. The building has two storeys and attics, with three windows that have four-light stone mullions with ovolo moulds. The iron casements throughout include horizontal glazing bars. A continuous label, which is returned, runs over the ground floor windows and the front door, while separate labels are present over the first floor windows. Unusually, the front doorway is located at the left end of the elevation and has straight-chamfered jambs with a very depressed-arch head, leading to a plank door. The gable end contains two blocked single-light windows. At the rear, there is a large continuous outshut, which is original, forming a dairy with a cheese loft above. Inside, there is a lobby entrance with a fireplace jamb in front, and the staircase runs longitudinally up along the inner back wall of the inner room.
