SY 59 NW MAPPERTON 4-12-1951 8/86 Holeacre Farmhouse (formerly listed as Mapperton Dairy )

Detached Farmhouse. Late C17. Dressed stone walls. Slate roof with stone gable-coping. Brick stacks at left and right hand gables. 2 storeys and attics. 3 windows, 4-light stone mullions (ovolo moulds). Iron casements with horizontal glazing-bars throughout. Continuous label, returned, over ground floor windows and front door. Separate labels over first floor windows. Front doorway, unusually, at left hand end of elevation, with straight-chamfered jambs and very depressed-arch head. Plank door. 2 blocked single-light windows in gable end. Large continuous outshut at rear (original), forming dairy with cheese loft over. Interior: lobby-entrance with fireplace jamb in front. Staircase, in inner room, runs longitudinally up, along inner back wall. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p 156(6).
