Description

Coltleigh Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dated 1787 on the west gable end, with a probable earlier core. It features dressed stone walls, which are rendered on the west gable, and a slate roof with stone gable-copings and moulded kneeler-blocks. There are stone stacks at each gable topped with moulded stone cornices. The building has two storeys and attics, with a symmetrical facade that includes three windows featuring three-light ovolo stone mullions and a two-light window above the front door. The windows have iron casements with leaded lights and separate labels above them. The front door, located on the south wall, is a plank and studded door from the 18th century, with long strap hinges that extend beyond the edge of the door and a hasp-and-pin lock. The rear door on the north side has recessed panels and two top lights, with a wooden lintel above. Inside, the farmhouse has a double-pile layout with larger rooms on the south side. A central corridor-passage runs beside the staircase to the rear lobby entrance, and the floors are made of flagstone.
