Description

Chestnut Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with later alterations located in Pentridge Village. The building features a timber frame with rendered infill, while the end wall is made of banded brick and flint. It has a tiled roof with a brick stack on the right side. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has two windows, which include two and three-light casements with leaded lights. The entrance is marked by a central part-glazed plank door. At the rear, there are remains of the original timber frame outshut, and the eaves have been raised.

Inside, notable features include an open fireplace with a chamfered bressummer dated 1730, various stop-chamfered ceiling beams, medieval window glass, and 17th-century panelling that has been brought from elsewhere. The interior also contains some early doors and doorways, along with original timber-framed partitions.
