PENTRIDGE PENTRIDGE VILLAGE (north west side) Chestnut Cottage

(Formerly listed as Cottage 100 metres south-east of St Rumbold's Church)

GV II Cottage, C17 with later alterations. Timber frame with rendered infill, end wall in banded brick and flint. Tiled roof with end brick stack right. One and a half storeys, two window range. Two and three-light casements with leaded-lights. Central part-glazed plank door. Remains of original timber frame outshut to rear. Eaves have been raised.

Internal features: open fireplace with chamfered bressummer bearing date 1730; various stop-chamfered ceiling beams; medieval window glass and C17 panelling brought from elsewhere. Some early doors and doorways, together with original timber-framed partitions.
