Description
This pair of cottages, located 120 meters south of St Rumbold's Church, has origins dating back to the 17th century or earlier, though they were significantly modified in the 19th century. The cottages are constructed from brick-faced chalk cob and are whitewashed. They feature a thatched roof with brick stacks at both ends of the main range. The building is L-shaped, with a projecting cross-wing on the left side. It has one and a half storeys and displays irregular fenestration. The windows include 2 and 3-light casements, mostly from the 19th century and fitted with glazing bars. The cross-wing contains a single-light wrought-iron casement with leaded lights. The ground floor windows are set under segmental heads, and each cottage has a plank door located in a gabled porch.
