Description

This granary likely dates to the late 18th or early 19th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed of brick with a half-hipped, plain tiled roof. The rectangular building is raised on three segmental-arched openings (some now infilled) on all four sides. A later timber entrance door is set high in the west elevation, placed under a segmental-arched brick head. The right return has two inserted windows within flat-arched openings. The west and south elevations are rendered and have no openings. The granary has a raised ground floor, supported by a sill beam and an axial beam, which rest on brick piers and two staddle stones located underneath the building. The interior, last inspected in 2018, is understood to contain two floors and a collared roof truss with mortised and pegged joints.
