Description
The walling and doorway, located immediately opposite Chipman's Lodge, date from the late 19th century and incorporate materials from the 14th century. The structure features a dressed stone wall topped with an ashlar crenellated stone parapet, extending for 10 metres. On either side of the central doorway are ashlar stone niches with semi-circular heads, each adorned with a stone griffin. The doorway itself has moulded stone jambs and a heavily-cusped two-centred head, with trefoils in the spandrels and a heavy returned label above.
