Description
Higher Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century. The door lintel is dated "Istas Aedes Restituit Refecit J.R.P.G. A.S. MDCCCXCII", indicating repairs made in 1892. The building features dressed stone walls and clay-tile roofs with gable ends and stone gable copings, along with moulded kneelers. There are ashlar stone stacks at the gable ends. The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics and has three windows with ovolo-moulded stone mullions. The ground floor has four-light windows, while the first floor has three-light windows, all with straight dripstones above. The windows are wooden casements with glazing bars. The front doorway is centrally located and has a depressed-arch head, featuring a recessed panel and a late 19th-century glazed door. Above the door is a pitched stone canopy supported by moulded stone brackets. An attached front garden wall, made of dressed stone with coping stones, ramps up to the central gateway.
