Description

No 1 Back Street is a detached schoolmaster's house built in the mid 19th century. It features rubble-stone walls that are squared and coursed, and a slate roof with stone gable copings and moulded stone kneelers. The eaves are boxed, and there are stone stacks at each gable with chamfered set-offs and cornices. The building has two storeys and three windows, with three-light stone mullioned windows on the ground floor and two-light stone mullioned windows above. All windows have a complete set of lozenge-pattern glazing bars and stone labels above them. The front door is centrally located and has a depressed-arch head with moulded stone jambs, along with a label above.
