Description
No. 12 and the attached house on the left are located in Beaminster and date back to 1687. A date stone in the dormer gable notes, "This house burnt in 1684 House rebuilt in 1687 W.L." The building features coursed stone walls and an asbestos tile roof with stone gable-coping. There is one shared stack on the left side. The structure has two storeys and attics.
On the west elevation, there are two windows. The ground floor includes a canted bay window with wooden columnar framing and large glass panels, which is a 20th-century addition. The corner features two shop windows with an integral door across the corner, topped with a fanlight. The window framing displays fine reeding and a plain cornice, while the door has marginal glazing-bars. On the first floor, there are two 4-light stone mullions with hollow chamfers, three of which have fixed lead lights and one has an opening iron casement, each with separate labels above. There is also a half-dormer with a 3-light stone mullion and a separate label above.
The south gable end has one 3-light mullion with a separate label above. The attached house on the left has roughcast stone walls and a stone plinth, with a Roman tile roof and one stone gable-coping. It has a brick stack at the right gable and two storeys with two windows featuring wooden horizontally-pivoting casements with glazing-bars and wooden cills. There is no door leading to the street.
