Description

Lower House is a house, dated 1630, with 20th-century additions. It is constructed of coursed and squared large stone blocks with ashlar dressings, and has a clay tile roof with coped verges. A central brick stack rises from the roof. The house follows a 2-room lobby-entry plan. It has two storeys and a gable lit attic, with a symmetrical facade of two windows. The windows are 2-light, flat-faced mullioned windows, replacing earlier windows. A small, single-light fire window is located to the left of centre, featuring a rebated surround and a straight hood mould. A central gabled porch has moulded coping and a returned hood mould over a shallow cambered arch, which frames a boarded door. A datestone sits above the door. A moulded eaves cornice runs around the building. Both gable ends exhibit similar fenestration, with chamfered mullioned windows in rebated surrounds, all with straight hood moulds. The attic window has three lights, while the ground and first floor windows have four lights.
