Description
Gething and Bowditch is a building that serves as premises for veterinary surgeons and was originally three cottages. It dates from the 17th century and later. The structure features lias rubble walls and a tile roof with stone gable-coping at the north end. There are brick stacks on either side of the centre at the ridge. The building is two storeys high and has four windows facing Fleet Street.
On the ground floor, there are two- and three-light wooden casements with concrete lintels, which were added in the 20th century. The first floor includes two stone mullions from the 17th century: one is a three-light window with a cavetto profile and a label, while the other is a two-light window with an ovolo profile; the centre-mullion of this window has been lost and replaced with wood, also featuring a label above.
The doors include a wooden door on the left with four recessed panels and a glass light above, which has a concrete lintel. The centre door is wooden with six flush panels, and the right-hand door has been blocked.
