Description
Court Pound is a detached cottage, likely dating from the 17th century. It features rubble stone walls and a stone slate roof, with brick stacks at each end. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of one storey and an attic. The projecting wing has a casement window with glazing bars on each floor and a stone stack on the end wall. To the left, there is a lean-to porch with a studded door, and to the right, a lean-to extension with a catslide roof. The main range has a ground floor with one casement window featuring glazing bars, while the attic includes a pent-roofed dormer with similar casements. Inside, the main ground floor room boasts a large open fireplace with a cambered timber lintel and some stop-chamfered ceiling beams. Surrounding the cottage are dry stone boundary and garden walls on the east, west, and south sides. This property is managed by the National Trust and is recorded as RCHM Monument 31 in Dorset Volume II.
