Description

A terrace of three cottages, likely dating from the late 18th century, is situated in Acton. The cottages are constructed of rubble stone with stone slate roofs and stone stacks along the ridge. No. 1, at the left end, features two lean-to extensions, one of which is a porch with a part-glazed door. Each ground and first floor contains a single casement window with central glazing bars. The main ground floor room retains a large open fireplace with a stone lintel. No. 2 has a part-glazed door and similarly arranged casement windows to the ground and first floors, with a small fixed window also on the first floor. No. 3 is set forward from No. 2, and includes a small stone porch. The ground floor has a 20th-century bow window with glazing bars, while the first floor has a casement window with lead lights. A projecting wing of one storey and an attic, situated at the right end, has a 20th-century casement window. The cottages remain largely unaltered, contrasting with other properties in the area that have undergone modifications.
