Description
The premises occupied by Bartlett and Son, Solicitors, consist of three cottages that likely date back to the 17th century or even earlier, although they have been significantly rebuilt and altered over time. The cottages feature two stories with stone rubble fronts. The southernmost cottage has a two-window front and is adjacent to the Almshouses. It retains two upper casement windows with lead glazing. The central building has a gable end facing the Close, featuring an 18th-century three-light sash window on the ground floor and a paired sash window above, which has altered glazing bars. This central cottage is connected to the northern building by a stone wall that includes a doorway with a three-centred head. The northern building has a plain tile roof and a paired sash window on each floor. The central cottage also has a plain tile roof, while the southern cottage is topped with a stone slate roof. All the listed buildings in Abbey Close form a group with the east end of No 1 Finger Lane.
