Description
Cottages known as No 4 and No 2 are located on Trendle Street and date from the 18th century or earlier. They are two-storey buildings with a stone rubble front. No 4 has been painted over, while No 2 is rendered.
No 4 features a three-window front. On the first floor, from left to right, there is a small three-light casement, a small two-light casement, and another small three-light casement. The ground floor includes a four-flush-panelled door with a pedimented hood, alongside a four-light casement with a wooden lintel.
No 2 has a two-window front with two two-light casements featuring small panes above. Below these, there are two sash windows without glazing bars. The doorcase is from the early 19th century and includes a moulded archivolt, angle roundels, and an entablature, with a six-flush-panelled door that has the top two panels glazed.
These cottages are part of a group with the Hospital of Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, located at Abbey Close.
