Description
The Public Weighbridge House is a small semi-circular structure dating from the 18th century, located on Half Moon Street. It features a curved brick surface at the rear and a stone arch facing the street. The building has a peaked roof and a round-headed arch adorned with panelled spandrels, panelled pilasters, and an architrave, frieze, and cornice above. The wooden door has cover strips and includes a plaque indicating that the weighbridge was removed for road widening in 1950. The Public Weighbridge House, along with the Former Church House, is part of a group that includes the Hospital of Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, as well as the Abbey Church of St Mary in Abbey Close.
