Description

Peach Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century on the right side of the front door and likely has an 18th-century rebuild on the left. The right section is made of coursed rubble, while the left is constructed of brick in Flemish bond. Both sections were rendered until recently. The house has a tiled roof with gable ends and features brick stacks at the ends and to the right of the center. It likely started as a three-room cross-passage plan with a stack backing onto the cross passage. The building is two storeys high with a four-window range, and there is a small octagonal window above the door. The 20th-century three-light wooden casement windows have concrete and wooden lintels with horizontal glazing bars. There is a 20th-century porch and a glazed door to the left of the stack.

Inside, the middle room has a ceiling with intersecting deep chamfered beams and a wall plate, along with traces of a former plank and muntin partition. The fireplace features a shallow chamfered bressummer, and there are some early panelling and doors that may have been reset. A timber mullioned window, possibly reset, and original roof trusses remain in place beneath the 20th-century roof. Various 17th-century features, such as stone mullioned windows, are said to have been removed.
