Description
Gibbs Marsh Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with additions and alterations made in 1863. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends. The original range has chimneys at both ends, as well as one at the 19th-century gable. The south facade is two storeys high and has a five-window range. The windows are wooden casements from the 19th and 20th centuries, with glazing bars in two and three lights. All windows, except for the upper floor second from the left, are set under segmental stone arches. There is a 20th-century porch that includes an earlier plank door. The original house is L-shaped, with 19th-century additions to the right. Inside, there are stopped deep chamfered beams, and the principals of the 17th-century roof are supported by cambered tie beams beneath the later roof. The 19th-century additions were made by the Grosvenor estate.
