Description

Ivybank is a detached house built in the mid-19th century. It features squared rubble with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof with clay ridges. The house is designed in an L-plan and has a wide, symmetrical frontage with two storeys and three windows. The windows are margin-pane sashes. There is a central gabled glazed porch from the 19th century, which has a six-panel door to the right, covering a pair of glazed doors with an overlight. The house has single bay returns, and at the back, there is a 20th-century extension with 16-pane sashes. The roof is low-pitched and hipped with box eaves, and there are brick stacks at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.

The property also includes a boundary wall that is approximately 2.2 meters high, which comes in from a gate pier on Incline Road and then reduces to about 1.2 meters in height, made of squared rubble with a weathered capping across the width of the house. There is a wide garage opening followed by a short length to the right, which incorporates a boundary stone. Ivybank is included for its group value as part of a notable collection of buildings that includes the church, school, and former prison.
