Description

Ivy Bank is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the 18th century but with earlier origins. The building underwent changes in the 19th century, including raising the eaves and replacing windows, along with further alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone, partly banded with ironstone, and features an asbestos slate roof with brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge.

The house has a three-unit plan and is two stories high, with a two-window range and a one-bay extension. The central entrance is a 20th-century glazed door, flanked by four tripartite sash windows on the ground floor. The first floor has two casement windows that mimic the tripartite sash style, all featuring wooden lintels; the first-floor windows have stop-chamfered lintels. To the right, there is a slightly lower extension made of coursed squared ironstone. The slate roof extends over a weatherboarded loft above a carriage arch on the right side, which connects the house to an attached barn.

The barn, which has five bays, is built from coursed squared ironstone and topped with a corrugated iron roof. It features central double-leaf opposed plank doors with wooden lintels.
