Description
Cold Higham’s war memorial cross, c2m high in a brown sandstone, stands just within the churchyard of the church of St Luke’s (Grade II*). The plain Latin cross, octagonal in section with a moulded foot, rises from the short octagonal shaft. The square plinth, which has a shallow out-sailing cap, is inscribed IN MEMORY OF THOSE/ FROM THIS PARISH WHO/ FELL IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918. The names of the 12 fallen appear on the other three sides. The sloping tablet added to the top of the plinth commemorating those who fell in the Second World War reads SECOND WORLD/ WAR 1939 – 1945/ (2 NAMES).
