Description
Cold Higham's war memorial cross, approximately 2 meters high, is made of brown sandstone and is located just within the churchyard of St Luke's Church, which is listed as Grade II*. The memorial features a plain Latin cross that is octagonal in shape and has a moulded foot, rising from a short octagonal shaft. The square plinth has a shallow out-sailing cap and is inscribed with the words "IN MEMORY OF THOSE/ FROM THIS PARISH WHO/ FELL IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918." The names of the twelve individuals who fell are displayed on the other three sides. Additionally, a sloping tablet has been added to the top of the plinth to commemorate those who fell in the Second World War, which reads "SECOND WORLD/ WAR 1939 – 1945/ (2 NAMES)."
