Description
St Peter's Vicarage is a mid-19th century vicarage located on Grove Road in Portland. It is constructed from rock-faced squared and snecked Portland stone, with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The building features a compact hipped block with a back wing that projects to the left and a porch on the right side.
The vicarage is two storeys high and has a two-windowed facade. The upper floor has paired plate-glass sash windows with a broad flat central mullion, while the ground floor features two canted flat-roofed bays with casement windows. The structure includes a plinth, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course.
On the right side of the building, there is a single plate-glass sash window centrally positioned above a small square bay with a flat roof, similar to the main front. This is flanked by a flat-roofed porch that has paired arched windows. Toward the road, there is a glazed door with a plain fanlight set within corner pilasters. The building is adorned with a plinth, a mid-plat band, and bracketted eaves, along with stone stacks at the front and rear cappings. The vicarage is included for its group value.
