II
Pair of gate piers, with attached boundary walls to the E and N of Incline Road. Piers in Portland ashlar, walls in coursed rubble. The piers are banded and with pediment caps, with a carved anchor. Early C19. The attached wall to the left (W) (qv) returns along the length of Grove Road. To the right a rubble wall approx. 2.25m high, to spaced on-edge copings, encloses the site of Ivybank, and steps down to approx. 1.9m height behind the Vicarage (qv). At the E end it links to the boundary wall to St. Peter's Church (qv). This work is all part of an important series of visual and physical enclosures to the buildings and streets.
