Description
This listing describes a pair of gate piers located at the junction with Grove Road, along with the boundary walls to Ivybank and the Vicarage. The gate piers are made of Portland ashlar and date from the early 19th century. They feature banded designs and pediment caps, each adorned with a carved anchor. The boundary walls are constructed from coursed rubble.
To the left, the wall extends along Grove Road, while to the right, a rubble wall approximately 2.25 meters high, with spaced on-edge copings, encloses the site of Ivybank and steps down to about 1.9 meters behind the Vicarage. At the eastern end, this wall connects to the boundary wall of St. Peter's Church. Together, these structures form an important series of visual and physical enclosures for the surrounding buildings and streets.
