Description

The garden wall of Rax, located on the north side of Rax Lane, dates from the mid-19th century. It features a Greek Revival ashlar doorway adorned with incised line ornament on the pilasters and pediment. The door itself has a fret pattern moulding on the panels, along with anthemia moulding on the garden side. This wall is part of a group that includes The Grove, the garden wall to The Grove, No. 32 and its outhouses, the gatehouse of No. 32 and its wall, the outhouses to the south of Wykes Court Garden, as well as Nos 13, 15, 19, and 31 on the south side, Nos 17 and 19 Downes Street, Wykes Court, the Conservative Club and stables south of the Conservative Club, and North Street.
