Description

No. 11 East Street is a building from 1792 to 1795, laid out by Samuel and William Downe as part of Downe Street. It was refronted in the mid-19th century and features a stucco exterior with a hipped slate roof and a red brick chimney stack. The building stands three storeys high and has five ranges of sash windows with shouldered surrounds. The ground floor is rusticated, and there are quoins at the corners. The shopfronts are modern. The second floor has five window ranges with a continuous sill band and glazing bars. A plaque with "Downes Street" is displayed in good contemporary serif lettering. Nos. 9 to 15 (odd) form a group with this building.
