Description
House located at 15 Rax Lane, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and features a gabled slate roof with a rendered end stack. The house has a double-depth plan, stands three storeys tall, and has a three-window range. The original six-panelled door, which includes a decorative fanlight, is positioned to the left and is set within a semi-circular arched architrave. There are flat rendered arches above the six-over-six and eight-over-eight pane sash windows, and a semi-circular arched stair-light sash with radiating glazing bars is located at the centre of the first floor.
On the rear elevation, there is a mid-20th century outshut at ground floor level in front of 19th-century French windows, with first-floor 16-pane sashes and second-floor mid-20th century casements. Inside, the rear right room features an early 19th-century reeded cornice and skirting, reeded architraves with paterae around the panelled door and rear French windows, and a plain wooden fireplace. The panelled shutters are set in moulded wood architraves. The early 19th-century dog-leg staircase includes winders, stick balusters, and moulded newels.
