  1. Early or mid C19. The owner's or managers house of the ropeworks at No 32 Rax Lane, to which it is attached. Stucco. Low pitch hipped slate roof, wide eaves with brackets. 2 storeys. 5 ranges of sashes with glazing bars, shutters to 1st floor. Central doorway with fanlight in 3-centred arched opening, moulded archivolt and moulded roundels to impost blocks. Extension to east. Red brick. 3 storeys and parapet, which rises in centre to form a pediment with oculus in tympanum. Bands, 1 range of sashes with glazing bars. Door with steep pointed arch.

Wykes Court, its garden wall. Conservative Club, and former stables south of Conservative Club form a group with Rax, Garden wall to Rax, The Grove, Garden wall to the Grove, No 32 and its outhouses, Gatehouse of No 32 and its wall, Outhouses to the south of Wykes Court garden, Nos l3, l5, 19 and 31, Rax lane, and with Nos 17 and 19 Downes Street.
