SY 7283 OSMINGTON CHURCH LANE SY 7283 12/20 The Post Office and 26.1.56 Shrubbery Cottage

Attached Post Office and cottage. Later C18, (reset datestone in C20 extension at rear of PO: HG 1783). Coursed rubblestone walls with dressed stone quoins. Thatch roof with gable end at south end. C19 brick stacks at left hand gable and ridge right of centre. Two storeys. 5 windows, (total), first floor. Post Office has a square bay window at left ground. 3 panes x 7 panes, with a pentice thatched roof over. Rest are 2 light wood casements with glazing-bars, wood cills and wood lintels. Shrubbery has 2 light wood casements, C18 and C20. Doors: Post Office has front door left of centre, plank with 3 vertical upper lights. Thatch canopy over. Shrubbery: door at centre, plank-and-muntin in wood frame, C19. Thatch canopy over. Interior: PO has slight chamfered ceiling beams. (R.C.H.M. Dorset II, p.181 (10)).
