Description
The Post Office is a building that may have originally been three cottages, now combined into two, including the Post Office. It dates from the 17th to 18th century and was altered in the 20th century. The exterior is rendered over rubble with thatched roofs and features stone stacks at the gable ends, as well as a lateral stack on the left side of the Post Office wing. The building is arranged in an L-shape on a sloping site, with two cottages facing southwest and a west wing addition that runs parallel to the road, containing the Post Office in its gable end.
The structure has two storeys. The Post Office has a 16-pane sash window in the gable end, and on the ground floor, there is a 20th-century casement window to the left of a half-glazed door, which is topped by a hipped thatched roof and a cantilevered porch. The right return features a long two-bay section, while the left return is obscured by a garage addition. The southwest front includes a higher block with an independent roof on the right, displaying two bays with an arrangement of two-light casements and eyebrow dormers to the left. An arched entrance with a plank door is located between the first and second bays on the right. This building is an important visual feature at the southwest corner of the village, where the road begins to ascend towards the surrounding hills.
