Description
Numbers 7 and 9, known as Clouters Cottage, is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates back to the 17th century and was altered in the early 20th century. The building is constructed from red sandstone random rubble, with some areas rendered, and features a plain tile roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles. There are brick stacks at the gable end on the right and on the cross wing gable end on the left.
The layout consists of two cells and a cross passage. The cottage is two storeys high with a long three-bay facade. It has three-light casement windows and ground-floor canted bays, with a slate roof. The entrance features a recessed half-glazed door flanked by three-light casements, accessible by two steps. On the right side, there is a two-light hollow chamfered mullion window. The left side includes the main block of the farmhouse, which is not of special interest due to extensive modernisation. The building is primarily listed for its contribution to the street scene.
