Description
Burvan House, located at 23 and 24 Wool High Street, is a building that was originally a single house but is now divided into a house and a shop. Number 23 dates from the 18th century, while number 24 is likely from the early 19th century. Number 23 features brick walls, a thatched roof, and a brick stack, with a parapet at the north end of the roof. It is two storeys high and has a modern glazed porch with a part-glazed door. The ground floor includes two metal casement windows, and the first floor has three horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The main ground floor room retains the remains of an altered open fireplace. At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to under a catslide roof, along with a later flat-roofed extension. Number 24 has plastered walls, a thatched roof, and a brick stack, also standing two storeys tall. It features a modern glazed porch and part-glazed door, with one metal casement window on the ground floor and one horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars on the first floor. There is a single-storey lean-to at the rear under a catslide roof. The buildings are included for their group value.
