Description

This is a former barn, likely dating from the 18th century, and now converted into two houses. The walls are a combination of brick and plaster, with a tiled roof. The barn is one storey high with attics. Number 1 has a former cart porch on its west elevation; the lower part is now infilled with glazing, and the upper part is weatherboarded with a hardwood casement window. There is a glazed porch and door, a single hardwood casement window on the ground floor, and two recessed half-dormers with hardwood casements in the attic. The east elevation features a single-storey lean-to under a catslide roof, with a part-glazed door and two casement windows, and one inset dormer. Number 2 is similar, with a former cart porch on its east elevation, infilled as described for Number 1, and a lean-to extension under a catslide roof. It has a part-glazed door, three hardwood casement windows, and an inset dormer. The building is thought to date from the early to mid-19th century. Stone boundary walls with half-round brick capping define the edges of the property, bordering both High Street and Colliers Lane.
