Description
Seyco House, including the rear wing to the west, is an 18th-century building located on the north side of Greenhill in Belmont. The front of the house has been later covered with cement render and features a six-window bay front divided into three bays by giant pilasters. The sash windows have early 19th-century moulded architraves and keystones, although the glazing bars have mostly been altered. The entrance to Oversey boasts a fine 18th-century doorway with engaged Doric columns, relief vases on the entablature blocks, a dentil cornice, and a pediment. It also has a six-panelled door with moulded strips on the panels. The doorway to Belmont is similar but plainer, featuring a depressed semi-circular fanlight. Seyco House has a modern shop front on the ground floor. The rear wing of Seyco House, to the west, is constructed of stone rubble and has a plaintile roof, with an external stone chimney that is partly crow-stepped. On the east side of the rear wing, there are three segmental-headed openings, which include two doors and one sash window with intact glazing bars. The listed buildings on the north side of Greenhill, from Newell Cottage to Belmont, and on the south side from Delta to the premises occupied by Godden and Curtis, form a group.
