Description
The Antelope Hotel, which includes the southern part of the rear wings, is a building that opened in 1748. It features a six-window front, is two storeys tall with attics, and has a new plain tile roof with new dormers. The hotel has a well-crafted moulded and coved cornice with kneelers at both ends. The sash windows have segmental heads and keystones, with the first-floor windows retaining wide glazing bars. There is a stone plinth and a projecting stone porch supported by Tuscan columns, leading to a six-panelled door within a frame.
To the east of the inn yard is a rear wing that is also two storeys tall with an attic, featuring three window bays. It has a slate gabled roof with three hipped dormers, and its front is constructed of brick and stone rubble. This wing includes three two-light segmental headed casements, with the right-hand end featuring lead glazing. The ground floor has round-headed arcading over the openings.
To the west of the yard is another rear wing, which is two storeys tall with an attic and has a plain tile roof with two hipped dormers facing the court. Its wall is made of stone rubble, and there is one two-light window on the first floor.
The Antelope Hotel and the listed buildings on the North Side of Greenhill, from Newell Cottage to Belmont, and on the South Side from Delta to the premises occupied by Godden and Curtis, form a group.
