Description
Abbot's Fee is a Grade II listed building located on the north side of Greenhill, dating from around 1625. It is situated next to Ramsam House, with its frontage set back. The building features a three-storey stone front with two windows, showcasing Tudor casements that have label moulds, likely from the early to mid-19th century. A projecting porch, also from this period, is supported by shafted columns.
The front of Abbot's Fee includes three carved stone quatrefoil panels, with the outer ones partially obscured—one by a buttress and the other by the return wall of the adjacent house. This indicates that some of the masonry may have medieval origins, possibly from Abbot Ramsam's New Inn, which was demolished around 1842. The building's front is adorned with a moulded cornice, a panelled parapet, and dormers, topped by a plaintile roof.
Abbot's Fee is part of a group of listed buildings on the north side of Greenhill, extending from Newell Cottage to Belmont, and on the south side from Delta to the premises occupied by Godden and Curtis.
