Description
Bubb Down Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse located in Melbury Bubb, dating from the mid-18th century with an earlier core and extended to the west in the 19th century. The building features rubble stone walls with brick dressings and a thatched roof that is hipped at both ends. There are brick stacks at the left end, eaves, and at the ridge on the right side. The farmhouse is 1 and a half storeys high and has four windows, which are two- and three-light wood casements with horizontal glazing bars and wood cills. The windows have brick jambs and cambered brick arches. The front door, positioned to the left of the centre, is a plank-and-muntin design with a depressed-arch head, dating from the 19th century. There is a weatherboarded porch added in the 20th century. At the rear, there is a short range with rendered walls and a thatched roof, also 1 and a half storeys high, featuring one casement window.
