Description
No. 42 Mallams is a house located at the upper end of a row in Fortuneswell, dating from the mid to late 18th century. The building is rendered and has an asbestos-cement slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features two windows. On the first floor, there is a tripartite sash window with plain stone mullions, consisting of 8:16:8-pane sashes, alongside a single 16-pane sash window above a Palladian window that has 8:15:8-pane sashes. To the right, there is a 20th-century door. The upper windows are set in raised plat bands and have stone cills. The right side has a raised cemented verge, and there is a rendered return gable. At the rear, there is a stone stack at the eaves, which is partly rendered, along with a low-pitched one-storey lean-to. This building exhibits more architectural detail than most others in the row.
