Description
This is a pair of late 18th or early 19th century houses located on Ridgeway Hill in Weymouth. The houses are rendered with a slate roof and sit across the slope of the hill, featuring a raised terrace to the street front. Each house has two storeys and one window, although No. 30 has an additional sash window to the ground floor. The windows are 12-pane sashes in flush boxes, with margin-pane French doors to No. 28. No. 30 has a 20th-century part-glazed door, and No. 28 features a 6-panel fielded door, partially glazed. A full-width hipped and slated verandah, supported by slender cast-iron columns and featuring patent glazing at each end, runs along the front of the houses. Brick gable stacks are also present. An additional, lower two-storey, one-bay section stands to the left of the main pair, constructed of rubble and topped with a slate roof, and containing 2-light casements with segmental heads. The interior has not been inspected. It is believed that the pair of houses were originally built as a single dwelling.
