Description
Horton Cottage is a detached house, likely built in the early 18th century. It features roughcast walls and a slate roof, with one brick chimney stack at the left end and another set in from the right end. The roof was originally hipped, and the building had an L-shaped plan, though a 19th-century infill block has been added at the rear. The cottage is two storeys high and has a part glazed panelled door beneath a pentice hood supported by brackets. On the ground floor, there are two inserted 19th-century bay windows with sashes that include a central glazing bar. The first floor has four segmental-headed sash windows, also with glazing bars. Inside, there are some chamfered ceiling beams, a large open fireplace in the original rear wing which serves as the kitchen, 18th-century raised panel doors, and an 18th-century fireplace surround on the first floor.
