Description
Peppercorn Cottage is a detached cottage that dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions made at the right end and rear in the 20th century. The cottage features brick walls with a cob facing and a hipped thatched roof, supported by one brick stack at the left end and another to the left of center. It is one storey high with an attic. At the right end, there is a ledged door set in a porch with a hipped catslide roof, while a glazed door is located near the left end. The ground floor has four casement windows with glazing bars, and the attic includes three dormers with similar casements. Inside, the central stack has 'through' fireplaces with original lintels, and there is a timber-framed partition on the ground floor along with several exposed ceiling beams. The cottage underwent considerable repairs around 1980, but some original roof trusses remain.
