Description

Hill Crest is a small former farmhouse dating from the 18th century. It features cob walls that have been raised in brick, a thatched roof, and plastered stacks on the ridge. The building is two storeys high, with the left end having been partially rebuilt and projecting forward slightly. There is a ledged door located in a pebble dashed porch that has a gabled tiled roof. On the ground floor, there are three 20th-century casement windows with lead lights, while the first floor has two similar windows and one dormered window in the left section. A 20th-century rear wing is attached at the right end, constructed in a matching style, along with a lean-to extension at the right end. Inside, the main ground floor room features a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven, while there is a smaller open fireplace in the room at the left end. Some exposed stop-chamfered ceiling beams can also be seen. The building was under repair at the time of the survey in November 1985.
