Description

Little Thatch is a detached cottage, probably from the 18th century. It features plastered cob walls with brick dressings and a hipped thatched roof, with a brick stack located to the left of center. The cottage is positioned at right angles to the road, and the left section was formerly an outbuilding. It has one storey and an attic. The entrance includes a part glazed door set in a brick porch with a gabled tiled roof, along with a part glazed stable door from the former outbuildings. In the original part of the house, the ground floor has three casement windows with glazing bars beneath timber lintels, while the attic contains two dormers with similar casements. Inside, there are some exposed ceiling beams and a large open fireplace with a timber lintel, along with the remains of a bread oven. Little Thatch is noted as the least altered of a group of similar cottages in the area.
