Description
Saxon Meade is a detached cottage, likely built in the 18th century. It features plastered cob walls, with some areas of brick and stone, all of which are colourwashed. The cottage has a half-hipped thatched roof and a central brick chimney stack, positioned at right angles to the road. It is one storey with an attic.
On the east front, the ground floor includes two casement windows with glazing bars, and there is a similar window under the eaves that lights the stairway. In the attic, there is one dormer with a similar casement. The gable end facing the road has one casement window with glazing bars on the ground floor and one horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars in the attic.
At the rear, there is a single-storey flat-roofed extension that contains the entrance. Inside, the room at the left end is open to the roof, suggesting it may have been a former barn. The main ground floor room features a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and some exposed ceiling beams.
