Description
Ilsington Farm House is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 17th century, which has undergone significant alterations in the late 18th to early 19th centuries. The building features brick walls constructed in garden wall bond with burnt headers, while the right end wall is plastered. It has a hipped slate roof with a central lead flat and a brick dentil cornice at the eaves. There are two brick stacks positioned laterally, each with four shafts set diagonally and oversailing caps, along with a similar single shafted stack in the center of the front.
The farmhouse has a double pile plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. At the center of the main elevation, there is a two-storey porch with a hipped roof. The porch features a moulded round-arched doorway with a projecting keystone and a part-glazed inner door. Above the doorway, there is a sash window with glazing bars set under a gauged arch. On either side of the porch, both the ground and first floors have two similar sash windows. The attic includes two hipped dormers with casements that also have glazing bars. Additionally, there is a single-storey lean-to at the right end of the building.
