Description
Post Office House is a former Post Office that has been converted into a private house, dating from the mid-19th century. The building features rough ashlar walls and a tiled roof, which includes some fish-scale tiling and ornamental bargeboards. There are two chimneys: one brick stack at the left end and one stone stack in the cross-wing at the right end. The house has a T-shaped plan and consists of one storey with an attic.
On the front elevation, the right end has a slightly projecting gabled wing, which contains a 2-light stone mullioned window with ornamental cast iron glazing on each floor. To the left of this wing, there is an added glazed porch with a shingled roof and a part glazed door set in a stone 4-centred arch. In the main range to the left, there is another 2-light stone mullioned window with ornamental cast iron glazing on the ground floor, and a gabled dormer in the attic also features a similar window. At the rear, there is a single storey lean-to extension.
