Description

Springfield Cottage is likely late 18th century, a detached cottage situated near Gaunts Common. The walls are a combination of brick at the lower levels and plastered cob above, with a thatched roof that is half-hipped at the right-hand end and features a brick stack at the left. The cottage is one storey high with an attic. A porch with a gabled tiled roof and a 20th-century oak ledged door has been added. On the ground floor are two casement windows with a central horizontal bar. The attic has two dormers, also with similar casement windows. A 20th-century single-storey brick lean-to extends from the rear. A lean-to garage is located at the left end. Inside, some ceiling beams are exposed. The cottage has remained largely unaltered.
