Description
Petersham Farm House is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-18th century. It features brick walls and a tiled roof with a coped gable at the right end. The house has brick stacks with a cruciform plan and oversailing caps, located at both the right and left ends of the original section. An extension was added to the left in the 19th century. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a plat band at the first floor level and a shallow plinth on the original section. There is a panelled door set within a 20th-century open timber porch.
On the ground floor of the original section, there are two casement windows with horizontal glazing bars, which are positioned under gauged arches. The first floor also has two similar casements, but without arches. In the later left section, there is a similar casement on each floor, with a segmental arch on the ground floor. At the left end, there is a rear wing that has one storey and an attic, which was formerly used as a dairy and cheese loft. Additionally, there is a 19th-century rear staircase wing, all constructed in matching materials. Inside, there are some chamfered ceiling beams and remnants of large fireplaces, which have been partly built up.
