Description

No 55 on East Street is a former residential building, dating from around 1731 to 1750. It features a three-window red brick front and stands two stories tall with an attic. The building has two nipped dormers and a deep moulded wooden cornice. The first floor has sash windows. Originally, it had a well-designed early to mid 19th-century shop front with a hood supported by enriched console brackets. A later bay shop window has been added, along with a modern tiled stall riser. This building is part of a group with Nos 45 to 59 (odd).
